The most exciting ADE dance venues

Amsterdam expects to welcome more than 400,000 revellers during Amsterdam Dance Event. More than 400 events will take place over the course of 5 days and nights. In addition to nightclubs, venues include empty shipyards, creative incubators, squats and party boats. Het Sieraad is one of the finest architectural examples of the wavy Amsterdamse School style. Once a technical school, then a creative incubator, the building is now a popular event venue. The covered courtyard has been transformed into a large hall. On Friday, Fedde le Grand performs a 7-hour long solo set and on Saturday, the location hosts the Original Warehouse Acid Party.

Thuishaven’s winter circus

Thuishaven began in 2013 on the last Queen’s Day celebration as a small underground party in a sandbox in the Houthavens. Since then, the festival attracts thousands of visitors every sunny summer Sunday. The 3-day Winter circus event takes place on a lawn next to Sloterdijk station, in the same authentic circus tent with clowns, magicians and DJs.

The Magician in the Tolhuistuin

There will be magic in the Tolhuistuin, the Paradiso annex with a 24-hour license that will be inaugurated in Amsterdam Noord shortly before ADE. On Wednesday and Thursday the Tolhuistuin will host concerts by FKA Twigs and Zoot Woman. On Friday, disco dinosaur Joost van Bellen enlists the help of Wilfred Giroux and The Magician for his monthly Rauw party.

The NDSM shipyard has been home to many festivals, ranging from Voltt to Valtifest, and is still one of Amsterdam’s most edgy party locations. During ADE, the Dockyard Festival will raise its tents on Saturday whereas the Scheepsbouwloods will host the 3-day DGTL festival. Both feature an impressive artist line-up.

Disco Dejeuner at Waterkant

Waterkant is the city’s newest hotspot with a Surinamese menu and a beautiful patio under the futuristic parking garage on the Singelgracht. The Waterkant will offer 4 free events, with on Saturday, from 3 to 3, the Disco Dejeuner from the Amsterdam club scene Sandwich and the Utrecht party collective Les Animaux, with a.o. Quinten 909 and Keljet.
